If you have unwanted or expired prescription, over-the-counter and other unused household medications cluttering your household medicine cabinets, you can now dispose of them at your local police department.
Eighteen Westchester County police departments now provide MedReturn Drug Collection units in which you can anonymously dispose of your unwanted medicines. The units are safe, easy-to-use community drug collection devices.
The MedReturn Drug Collection units have been provided by the Westchester Anti-Drug Coalition, local municipality coalitions and the Department of Environmental Facilities.
The Department of Environmental Facilities maintains an up-to-date list of the local police departments where the units are located and when they may be accessed. Unused medications may also be taken to the H-MRF, but an appointment is required.
